In the midst of drawing mixed reviews from the fans, the movie team of Vikram-starred 'Cobra' has pumped in a new change to the movie after suggestions from the filmgoers and fans. The much-awaited movie 'Cobra' hit the big screens on August 31- Wednesday on the occasion of Ganesh Chathurthi after several deferments. However, the movie didn't open as expected due to a slew of negative reviews.

Though Vikram made a thumping comeback to the big screen, one factor that bothered the fans the most is the running time of Cobra. The movie runs for 3 hours, 3 minutes, and 3 seconds, which is more than the average runtime of any Tamil movie. Cobra was released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi but its runtime has become an upsetting element both for the fans and the movie team.

The filmgoers have suggested the movie team shorten the movie's runtime. After a wave of such suggestions, the maker ended up cutting out the superfluous parts of the movie and come up with a change and announced that as per the suggestion, Cobra is now trimmed by 20 minutes. Cobra producer Seven Screen Studio released a statement concerning the change, which will come into immediate effect.

In its statement that was released on Twitter, the production house wrote, "Any movie is a form of entertainment specifically curated to cheer audiences and make them enjoy the cinematic experience. It's of great happiness to the team if the content delivered is worth the audience's time and ticket money. We heard you! 'Cobra is now trimmed by 20 minutes as suggested by filmgoers, fans, our media friends, distributors & exhibitors."

"Now watch the trimmed version of Cobra from this evening in all shows across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Kerala. Do watch in theatres and support", the production house added. Both Vikram's acting and the music by AR Rahman have received overwhelmingly excellent reviews from spectators.

Produced by SS Lalit Kumar under the banner of Seven Screen Studio, Cobra is helmed by Ajay Gnanamuthu, who is known for his previous projects 'Demonte Colony' and 'Imaikaa Nodigal'. While Vikram plays the lead role in a handful of avatars, Srinidhi Shetty, former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan, KS Ravikumar, Roshan Mathew, Robo Shankar, Miya George, Mrinalini Ravi, and Meenakshi Govindarajan in important roles. The film is produced on a budget of Rs 100 crores and it has been reported that it grossed Rs 20 crore on its first day.
