Although the Modi government receives mixed reactions and criticisms at the national stage on combating Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country, it has seemingly earned compliments and welcoming perspectives at the International stage on the way it tackles the global pandemic.
The Central government has got one such important compliments from Bill Gates, who is the co-founder of Microsoft and one of the top rank bearers in the list of global billionaires. In a letter to the Prime Minister, Bill Gates has commended the leadership and the Central government's proactive measures including the nationwide lockdown and focusing on testings towards curbing the spread of Coronavirus in its territory.
The philanthropist stated that he was glad to witness the Indian government's approach towards utilizing the digital capabilities extensively in the counter fight against the virus and lauded the government for rolling out 'Aarogya Setu' digital application to track and trace the contacts affected by the virus and to keep the people across the country connected to the health services and measures on preventing from the risk.
Through the letter, Bill Gates commended the Central government's measures of declaring the unprecedented experiment of the nationwide lockdown, enhancing the capabilities of testing to identify the hotspots, expanding the quarantine facilities, and increasing the funding to the health machinery and infrastructure to grip up the taskforce to flatten the curve of COVI-19 infection rate.
The billionaire expressed that it was grateful to see that the Indian government is seeking to balance public health imperatives along with ensuring adequate social protection for all Indians. Bill Gates is one of the international figures to laud India's efforts. Earlier this month, the World Health Organization (WHO) has lauded the Modi's government on its social outreach.
The Chief of the UN body said that India has announced a series of measures and lauded its social outreach towards taking care of the communities affected by the nationwide lockdown imposed to curb the spread. According to the official figures issued by the Union Health Ministry, India has reported 21,393 positive cases for the virus so far as of Thursday morning of which 4,258 had recovered and 681 people have succumbed to the pandemic.
