Senior Congress leader and former party's president Rahul Gandhi has flayed Narendra Modi led BJP government while he was addressing the poll rally in Bihar on Wednesday, which is going through the tri-phased legislative elections, which would be crucial for both the ruling BJP and opposition Congress.
In what has become the first legislative elections since the COVID-19 outbreak and imposition of the nationwide lockdown, both the national rivals have been strongly hoping to hold the reign in one of the key states Bihar and as the results would answer how the people had reacted to the Modi's governance of handling the COVID-19 pandemic, the state has been witnessing the episodes of staunch attacks against the rivals.
On Wednesday, when the state has hosted the first phase of the three-phase assembly polls, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had addressed the rally in Bihar's Balmiki Nagar during which he flayed the Modi government. This was Rahul Gandhi's second electoral visit to the state and during his address, he said that the motive of demonetization and lockdown was the same and it was aimed at destroying small farmers, small businesses, traders, and laborers.
Rahul Gandhi cited that the only area where his party cannot compete against the Prime Minister was in lying. Gandhi said, "Congress had given direction to the country, it has given National Rural Employment Guarantee (MGNREGA), waived off the farmers' loans, and the Congress party knows how to run the country, stand with farmers, and generate employment. We do lack one thing - we don't know how to lie. We cannot compete with PM Modi at lying".
The Congress leader further stated that the Prime Minister doesn't say in speeches that he will generate jobs for two crore young people. He knows he was lying and people also know it and Rahul Gandhi had issued a guarantee that the people will chase PM Modi away if he comes here and says that he would generate two crore jobs.
According to reports, both Rahul Gandhi and Narendra Modi have been locking horns in the state by touching upon the issues of Chinese intrusion in Ladakh, lockdown, farm bills, migrant crises, abrogation of Article 370, and unemployment.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also been campaigning in Bihar and while he addressed the rally in Mithila, the Prime Minister had spoken about the party's propaganda of constructing Ram temple in Ayodhya and he urged the people to defeat the opposition parties and he claimed that the reign of the opposition parties has been a 'jungle raj' in the state and stated that these parties had swindled the funds that are allotted for the development schemes.
According to reports, the regions of southern Bihar have been voting on Wednesday as the first phase of polls and 33.10% of polling had recorded till 1 pm. The BJP had run into major flak over its election manifesto in which it had assured the voters that it would provide a free COVID-19 vaccine to the people of Bihar if it comes back to power in the state.
