Superstar Rajinikanth has sent out a Pongal message to the people in which he had appealed to them to adhere to the Covid protocols and guidelines and added that there is nothing above a healthy life. His Pongal message and greeting have been going viral. The actor has also met and greeted hundreds of fans who were gathered before his residence to express their Pongal greetings to him.
Taking to Twitter on Friday, Rajinikanth wrote, "Greetings for everyone. We are living in tough and dangerous times. The Covid spread is increasing day by day. Everyone, please follow the restrictions and guidelines strictly to save us from the spread. There is nothing above a healthy life. My Pongal greetings to everyone." His tweet has been rampantly spread by his fans and followers.
The people of Tamil Nadu across and beyond the borders have been celebrating the Pongal festival in a traditional fashion and the mainland for Pongal, Tamil Nadu has been imposed with severe restrictions and protocols in celebrating the festival in the wake of the Covid-19 spread and the third wave. Besides the people, several film actors have also been celebrating Pongal at their residences. Actors Suriya and Sivakarthikeyan had shared pictures of their celebrations.
Rajinikanth had greeted hundreds of fans who were gathered before his Poes Garden residence in Chennai. The visuals from his residence were widespread as he exchanged his Pongal greeting with his fans. As per the media release by the health department, Tamil Nadu has reported 20,911 fresh Covid-19 cases, 6,235 discharges, and 25 deaths on Thursday- January 13. It is the first time in several months that the daily case count has breached the 20,000 mark. Overall, the state has recorded 28,68,500 cases so far as of Thursday of which 1,03,610 are active, 27,27,960 were recovered, and 36,930 had succumbed to the viral infection. Of the 20,911 fresh cases on Thursday, Chennai has reported 8,218 cases.
