Tamil comedian Santhanam, whose filmography is also filled with the movies in which he played the lead role, is celebrating his 42nd birthday today - January 21 and on the occasion of his birthday, his ardent fans have got a special treat as the trailer of his upcoming movie 'Agent Kannayiram' has been unveiled by the movie team. 

The fans have garnered a decent reception for the trailer which introduced Santhanam in a different role. In the movie, he plays the role of a detective for the first time and he is accompanied by an ensemble cast. The trailer has been going viral on social media and the fans have been extending their birthday greetings for the quadragenerian. Within three hours of release, the trailer has earned over 2.90 lakh views. 

The trailer runs for two minutes and promised a comedy-packed entertainer. It features Santhanam as a rural private detective in a fashion of Hollywood's Sherlock Holmes. Agent Kannayiram is the Tamil remake of the super hit Telugu movie 'Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya' starred by Navin Polishetty. Actors Arya and Jiiva had released the trailer and they had shared it on their social media handles. 

Sharing the trailer, Jiiva wrote, "Happy to release this interesting teaser of Agent Kannayiram, on the occasion of my good friend Santhanam's birthday." Actor Arya wrote, "Glad to release this amazing teaser of Agent Kannayiram, starring birthday boy partner Santhanam. Happy birthday Darling (sic)." 

Agent Kannayiram is bankrolled by Labrynth Films and directed by Manoj Beedha, who is known for directing 'Vanjagar Ulagam'. While Santhanam plays the lead role, Riya Suman, Sruthi Hariharan, Pugazh, Munishkanth, Redin Kingsley, E Ramdas, Indhumathy, and Madhan Dhakshinamoorthy play important roles. The music has been composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
