Watch: SPB's son SP Charan dispels rumors that SPB has tested negative for COVID-19

Hours after the circulation of news that playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam had tested negative for the COVID-19 viral infection, singer's son SP Charan had issued a clarification through which he denied the news as a rumor and appealed to the people to refrain from spreading rumors on his father's health condition.

On the morning hours of Monday, the news from nowhere made headlines that SPB had recovered successfully from the COVID-19 viral infection after his results returned negative. The piece of news read that his son SP Charan had put out the development that his father had recovered from the viral infection and the singer continues to be stable.

While the news had brought relief and smile among the fans and fraternities after knowing that SPB had combatted the viral infection successfully, the news was later spelled as a rumor after Charan took to social media and issued a clarification. Hours after the news reached across the state and social media, SP Charan said that the circulated information wasn't from him.

Issuing the clarification, SP Charan said that he is the only person who receives direct updates from the hospital concerning the health condition of SPB. He said, "I usually post Appa's health updates after I discuss with the medical team from the hospital. But unfortunately, I'm forced to put up a post in the morning". By citing that he usually puts out the updates through social media, he stated that the rumor that SPB had tested negative for COVID-19 was being spread widely.

By dispelling the rumor, SP Charan said the health condition of his father remains the same regardless of whether he tested positive or negative for the viral infection. Charan asserted that he will be giving an update on SPB's health on Monday evening after discussing with the doctors and the medical team of the hospital. He added that his father has been under the support of the ventilator and ECMO and his vital parameters are stabilizing and said that he is also waiting for the results.

This has been another set of the rumor that was surfaced around the health condition of the legendary singer. On August 5, the singer had said he has tested positive for COVID-19 viral infection and he has been getting treated at MGM Healthcare Hospital in Chennai. While he said he got a mild infection and would be discharged in two days, his health condition later got deteriorated and went into a critical state.

He has been getting treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and under the life support nearly for ten days and following the development, the singer's fans from across and beyond the borders and cinema fraternities have been extending their prayers and wishes for the speedy recovery of the singer. Last Thursday, he had returned to stable from being critical, and according to the last update from the hospital that was released on Saturday -August 22, the singer continues to be stable and in ICU with the support of the ventilator and ECMO.

The hospital said that he has been monitored by the multidisciplinary doctors who are collaborating with the international experts from the UK and the US, that have witnessed large volumes of COVID-19 patients requiring ECMO support.
