Watch: PM Narendra Modi's workout video turns heads and goes viral!

Narendra Modi is going to hit his eighth year as the Prime Minister in a few months and probably for the first time in his tenure, he had stepped into a gym on Sunday and had a brief workout. The unprecedented incident has won huge attention and has become the talk of the nation. In what has become a gymming start of the year for Modi, his workout video has been going viral on social media as it has been rampantly shared and stirred fitness advocacy and memes. 

2022 would be a bustling and crucial year that would possibly prefix the fate of the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The current year will see the legislative assembly polls in five states including Uttar Pradesh, in which a triumph will spotlight in the Lok Sabha polls. Prime Minister Modi is committed to winning the polls in Uttar Pradesh and he has been seeding several projects in the state to cultivate the votes. In a short span of time, he had vastly travelled across one of India's poorest states, where BJP expects the second consecutive term in power. 

Despite colliding opposition, BJP has been campaigning with Modi's reforms and policies for the state, with the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya being atop. As Uttar Pradesh polls are months away, several BJP leaders are also hitting the campaign trail and strengthening the party's run in the race. In line with his drive of launching various projects in the state, Narendra Modi has on Sunday - January 2, had laid the foundation stone for Major Dhyan Chand Sports University in Meerut. 

He had arrived in Meerut in the midst of a rousing welcome and laid the foundation stone for the university which will be built at the cost of Rs 700 crore. Several leaders including Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had participated in the event. After laying the foundation stone, the Prime Minister said, "Our government has set up the first national sports university in Manipur and now the first sports university in Uttar Pradesh will come up in Meerut." 

"The university is named after hockey icon Major Dhyan Chand and the name itself gives us a direction to remain focused", he added. The Prime Minister further said that earlier, only rich families in urban cities could access sports training and the government were apathetic to sportspersons. He said, "Today, things have changed, India has changed. We are in the 21st century and now whatever the youth goes, India will go." After the ceremony, Modi has turned the nation's heads towards him while he had a brief workout in a gym.

According to reports, after laying the foundation stone, the Prime Minister had headed to the Khelo India exhibition in his bid to spread a message of 'fit India' across the country. The video of Modi working out a pulldown machine in the exhibition has been going viral. He was seen working out the equipment with the gym instructor and interacting with him. The video has been widely shared on social media and several users had captioned his workout as advocacy for fitness while there has also been a pile of memes that erupted over his video. 

The reports say that the Major Dhyan Chand Sports University will have state-of-the-art facilities and will have sporting fields for various sports, a gymnasium hall, a synthetic running stadium, a swimming pool, a multipurpose hall, and a cycling track. Facilities will be available for sports including archery, weightlifting, shooting, canoeing, kayaking, and squash. It has been reported that more than 1000 students will be graduated from the university every year.
