Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan is back to the business after beating and recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic. He got discharged from the hospital on Saturday - December 4 and has penned a touching letter to the fans and fraternities for extending their prayers for a speedy recovery. The 67-year-old actor, who is also the president of Makkal Needhi Maiam, his political party, is expected to resume his work of acting in his upcoming movie and hosting the Bigg Boss Tamil season soon.
The discharge has come ten days after he was hospitalized. Kamal Haasan has on November 22 announced that he had tested positive for the Covid-19 pandemic, days after he returned from the United States. He had gone to the United States to launch a new clothing brand - KH House of Khaddar. It was launched in an event, that was held in Chicago on November 15 and after the event, he had returned to India and developed symptoms, and he already had received Covid-19 vaccines.
He said he was suffering from a mild cough following which he had taken a Covid test, which had returned positive. Taking to social media on November 22, he wrote, "I had a mild cough after returning from the United States. After testing, it was confirmed positive of Covid. I have been isolated myself in a hospital. Everyone, please stay safe by realizing that the virus spread is yet to be mitigated." He was admitted to Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre in Chennai and was getting treated in isolation.
Earlier, the hospital and the actor's daughter Shruti Haasan had affirmed that Kamal Haasan was doing well and on the path of recovery. On Wednesday, Dr Suhas Prabhakar, the Medical Director of Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre said, "Mr Kamal Haasan, who was admitted to Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre on 22nd November 2021 was Covid positive. He had mild covid for which he was treated." "He has fully recovered but advised to be on isolation until 3rd December 2021. He will be fit to resume his routine work from 4th December 2021", the hospital added.
As per the hospital's statement, Kamal Haasan has got discharged on Saturday and arrived home. The visuals of him leaving the hospital have been going viral on social media. He had issued a statement in which he had thanked the doctors, his friends, and fans for their wishes and prayers. He took photos with the doctors, who treated him, before leaving the hospital. Sharing his statement, he wrote, "Precautions will protect as much as possible. If we feel unwell beyond them, the actions that we take would heal us quickly", adding that he had recovered swiftly after getting infected.
On the work front, Kamal Haasan is currently in an outing for his 232nd movie 'Vikram' helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Vikram is been made as an action thriller film and bankrolled by Kamal Haasan under his own banner of Raaj Kamal Films International. While Kamal Haasan plays the lead role, Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, Kalidas Jayaram, Arjun Das, Sampath Raj, and Antony Varghese play important roles, and Anirudh Ravichander composes the music. The shooting of the movie has been going on at a steady pace and it has been speculated that the movie will hit the big screens next April.
