Watch: 'Cobra' trailer is out...Vikram captivates us with varied avatars and promises a racy thriller!

Actor Vikram will be seen next in the Tamil thriller movie 'Cobra' which is bankrolled by SS Lalit Kumar under his banner Seven Screen Studio and helmed by Ajay Gnanamuthu. The movie has been slated for a theatrical release on August 31 and on Thursday, a week ahead of the release, the movie team unveiled the trailer in a grand event that was held at VR Mall in Chennai. 

The trailer runs for over two minutes and the movie promises a racy action that was never seen before in any Vikram movies. The trailer takes us to various locations and introduces us to varied avatars of actor Vikram and it has also denoted that former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan will be playing the antagonist in the movie. Cobra will be getting released in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. 

The team is currently busy promoting the film across south Indian cities and their next tour stop is at Hyderabad on 28th August. The trailer of the much-awaiting movie has garnered a humongous reception from across and beyond the borders. It was released in the evening hours of Thursday and within one hour into release, the trailer has got over 1 million views on YouTube, which implies the scale of high expectancy for the movie. 

The trailer promises a no-nonsense actioner and it shows Vikram as a math teacher who covertly goes into a secret mission amid battling villain Irfan Pathan. Earlier, while talking about the movie at a promotional event, Vikram said,  "You must be aware of the film "Anniyan." But compared to that film, this one has more layers to peel back and Cobra combines science fiction, high-octane action, and psychological suspense."

"Both of Ajay Gnanamuthu's films 'Demonte Colony' and 'Imaika Nodigal' have unique screenplays. In a similar vein, Cobra is made in a different genre, which will be liked by all", Vikram added. He appealed to the audience to watch the movie in the theatre and show support.

Srinidhi Shetty will be playing the female lead and Mrinalini Ravi, Meenakshi, Miya George, Roshan Mathew, KS Ravikumar, Robo Shankar, and Anandaraj will play important roles. As an interesting element, Oscar-winning musician AR Rahman composed music for Cobra and the movie has been made on the budget of Rs 90 crore. It will be released on August 31 on the occasion of Ganesh Chathurthi.
