The track is set in the Japanese capital of Tokyo as the city is gearing up to host the Summer Olympics amid Covid-19. The world would take a break from the novel coronavirus and will be busy with the Olympics pandemic for the next few weeks. The sporting event, which is the biggest on the planet, will begin on July 23 and will be played till August 8. For the first time in history, the upcoming Olympics will be held without audiences in light of the Covid-19 outbreak.
Most of the countries are at the final stages of sending athletes to Tokyo with some have already arrived in the Japanese capital. Over 120 players from India will be participating in the Olympics and 12 Tamil Nadu athletes are among the Indian contingent. To cheer up the athletes, the Union government has released what is known as the "Official cheer song" for the Indian Olympic contingent to Tokyo 2020. The rocking anthem is now on the air and going viral on social media.
While the song is sung by Ananya Birla, the music is composed by Oscar-winning music director AR Rahman. The song has been titled "Hindustani Way" and lasts for three minutes and the allegory of the song has come with the elements and ingredients to cheer and to motivate the Indian contingent. Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur has launched the song and said, "Let me thank Ananya and AR Rahman for taking the initiative. I want every Indian to listen to it, share, and cheer for India."
The song has come in a fashion that it would be lip-synched in the coming days and it would take the viewers on a mini-tour of India's history in the Olympics. It covers the athletes who made history and achievements for India in the Olympics and the video features archival footage from Atlanta (1996), Athens (2004), Beijing (2008), London (2012), Rio de Janerio (2016), and some of the training footages of this year's Indian contingent.
The video features some of the heroes of India in the Olympics including Leander Peas, Vijender Singh, Abhinav Bindra, Mary Kom, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, PV Sindhu, and Sakshi Malik. Union Minister Thakur further said, "It was not easy even to collaborate, we were in different bubbles and zones, it might be difficult for AR Rahman and Ananya to come together and make a cheer song for Team India." "I am glad that we are going to launch it today. I want every Indian to listen to this song, share it as much as you can", he added.
According to reports, a total of 126 athletes across 18 sports disciplines from India. It has become the biggest-ever contingent India is sending to the Summer Olympics. It must be noted that the Olympics was scheduled to be held in 2020 as per the four-year calendar of the sporting event. However, in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the games were deferred from their original schedule and after a long wait, the 2020 season will now be hosted by Tokyo from July 23 amid the spread of Covid and protests from the Japanese people not to conduct the games this year.
