Actor Ajith has on Tuesday lost his temper and got angry when a fan tried to take a selfie with him when he arrived at a polling station in Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai to cast his vote in the Tamil Nadu assembly polls. The state is going through the polling of the crucial assembly polls to elect the new government. The polling began at 7 am on Tuesday and it will last till 7 pm and over 6.26 crore eligible voters are casting their votes to elect their representatives in the 234 assembly seats.
Apart from the general public, several celebrities have also been queuing up to cast their votes. Actor Ajith, whom the fans fondly call 'Thala', was the first to cast his vote in the state as he had cast his vote at around 6.55 am, five minutes before the official commencement of polling. Ajith had arrived with his wife Shalini at a polling station in Thiruvanmiyur and he was seen wearing a black t-shirt and a mask.
After knowing that Ajith had arrived to cast his vote, several fans had surrounded him to take a selfie with him as the actor is not someone who can be spotted at the movie events. Though the police personnel had accompanied him, some of the fans had surrounded him and when Ajith saw a maskless fan trying to take a selfie, he had suddenly snatched his phone in anger and asked the rest of the fans to vacate spot.
The video of Ajith's action of snatching the phone from a fan has been going viral across social media and it has stirred mixed reactions from the netizens with some slamming the actor while others backing him. This could be the first time in recent years that Ajith has lost his temper and shown his anger to the fan. According to reports, the maskless fan was trying to take a selfie without Ajith's consent.
After snatching the phone, Ajith looked in anger and asked the fans surrounding him to leave from there. He was then accompanied by the police into the polling booth post which he had cast his vote. The video was circulated on social media and some of the fans had used Ajith's action as the prospect to compare him with Vijay with one of the users saying, "Ajith- Snatching a fan's handphone to avoid taking a selfie and chased his fans out of the voting place. Vijay - Took his selfie from his own phone with millions of fans who waited for him in Neyveli. The difference between Vijay and Ajith...Ennam Pol Vazhkai".
Another user asked Ajith how can he disrespect his own fan and said that treating them like dogs is insane behavior. On the other hand, some of the fans had gone in support of the actor and said that people should be respectful of celebrities and they should not force them to take selfies without their consent. According to reports, Ajith had handed over the phone to the fan before leaving the polling station and advised him to wear a mask and not to bring the mobile phone to the polling station.
Apart from Ajith, several actors including Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Vijay, Suriya, Karthi, Vikram, Sivakarthikeyan, Arun Vijay, and Sibiraj had cast their votes at their respective polling stations. Actor Vijay had arrived on a bicycle to cast his vote in Neelankarai and took everyone into surprise by his stylish arrival. The video of his arrival on a bicycle has been widely shared on social media. The polling is underway in Tamil Nadu and the Election Commission has installed over 88,000 booths across the state and the polling will end at 7 pm on Tuesday and the last one hour of the polling is reserved for the Corona patients. The votes will be counted on May 2, during which the results will be announced.
