Hours after the wide circulations of reports suggesting that actor and political freshman Rajinikanth had named his political party as 'Makkal Sevai Katchi' and the Election Commission has allotted autorickshaw symbol for his party, Rajini Makkal Mandram (RMM), the outfit of the actor, has now issued the statement regarding such reports in which it has appealed to the supporters and fans to wait for official confirmation and announcement from the party's leadership on the name and symbol of the party.
In its official statement, Rajini Makkal Mandram has announced that "The media organizations have been quoting the release from the Election Commission and stating that the name and the symbol of the political party mentioned in the release belong to Rajini Makkal Mandram". The statement, that was signed by RMM in-charge VM Sudhakar, has appealed to the members of the outfit to wait for official confirmation from the party leadership.
The statement from RMM has come when Rajinikanth has been surfaced with stirring speculations that the actor has registered a political party and named it 'Makkal Sevai Katchi'. The reports claimed that the applicant who registered the party is Stalin, who is a senior functionary of RMM in Thoothukudi district. While it was said that the functionary's residence in Ernavoor, Chennai has been mentioned as the party's registered office, the reports said that the registration process was done in the name of another functionary as per the instructions from the top leadership.
The reports further stated that the same applicant had registered a party named 'Anaithindhiya Makkal Shakthi Kazhagam' in 2018 and the name was changed before two months to 'Makkal Sevai Katchi'. The applicant had asked for the party symbol similar to that of the Congress party. However, the Election Commission of India had rejected the applicant's claim following which the applicant had asked for the 'Autorickshaw' symbol as Rajinikanth had a significant breakthrough through the movie 'Baasha', in which he would be acting as the autorickshaw driver.
The reports that were circulated on Tuesday said that the Election Commission has given the autorickshaw symbol for Rajinikanth's party, which has been named as 'Makkal Sevai Katchi'. The petition to the Election Commission further reads that Makkal Sevvai Katchi would be contesting in all 234 assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu. The developments had affirmed that the actor and political freshman has been preparing for active politics. He has proposed what has been pretty new to the Tamil Nadu political ecosystem - spiritual politics, to take on the Dravidian politics.
As his political entry would re-shape and re-frame the political grounds in Tamil Nadu, his next move is been keenly watched by the political leaders. If everything goes well as he planned, Rajinikanth would be unveiling his party name in January 2021, three months ahead of the elections. On December 3, days after meeting the district secretaries of his outfit, Rajinikanth had announced his political plunge and revealed that he is ready for spiritual politics and a miracle will happen in the upcoming assembly polls.
Following his announcement, Rajinikanth had appointed BJP leader Arjuna Murthy as the chief coordinator for his party and Tamilaruvi Manian as the manager. By vowing that the time has come to change the fate of Tamil Nadu, Rajinikanth said, "I am ready to give my life to the people of Tamil Nadu. A political change is extremely essential at this hour. If it is not done now, it will be never done. We should change everything. I request with folded hands to those who had made my livelihood, to stand by me".
