Voters queue up for crucial by-elections in Tamil Nadu!

After the episodes of long campaign trails in Tamil Nadu's by-elections, the two legislative constituencies Nanguneri and Vikravandi vote to elect its representatives in what it appears to be the crucial elections for the top political rivals as the victories will write prefix for the 2021 state general elections.

Although the electoral voting machines carry the names of about 35 candidates in both constituencies, the real fight and the heat is between the ruling party ADMK and its alliance and the state's opposition party DMK and the allied parties as the handful parties had flagged the mixture of controversial and critical campaign trails supporting for its respective candidates. The polling is underway in the constituencies that will screen off at 6 pm and the votes will be counted on October 24th, 2019. Vikravandi in Villupuram district hosts about 23 candidates who have been hoping to cultivate the victory from 2.24 lakh eligible voters while Nanguneri has 12 candidates on board who seek the support from 2.57 lakh voters.

With the view of diminishing the possibilities of the involvement of the people from the other constituencies, the local authorities and the election department had directed the people of other constituencies who came for campaigning to leave the voting constituencies and further instructed the local hotels, accommodation centers, lodges and marriage halls not to host the outsiders during the elections and it has been reported that the security parameters have been tightened to ensure that no untoward scenes will be reported.

The campaign that lasted for over a month had seen the presence of the political cadres as the state Chief and Deputy chief ministers Edappadi Palaniswami and Pannerselvam had toured every directions of the constituencies in the view of seeking support for the party's candidates and on the other hand, DMK's president Stalin, along with the allied party leaders, had campaigned for the candidates of the opposition parties and the grounds of campaign had hosted the heated accusations, allegations and controversies where there were suspicious allegations of distributing money for the voters.

Last week, the villagers who decided to boycott the elections had stormed DMK's cadre house in which they had seized lakhs of money that was allegedly packed for distributing to the voters to acquire the votes following which the local police department had lodged a complaint against the DMK cadre along with the sitting DMK MLA of Periyakulum constituency for housing unaccounted cash.

The recent reports say that the voting had begun around 9 am in both the constituencies where in Vikravandi, nearly 12.84% of votes have been registered while in Nanguneri, about 18.41% votes have been registered and the numbers have been predicted to increase in mid day as more voters are expected to queue up to cast their votes despite of the rainfall. Along with the two constituencies, Puducherry's Kamaraj Nagar constituency is also voting in its by-election where about 9.66% of votes have been recorded since morning.

The victories in Tamil Nadu's by-elections will less likely account for legislative turmoil and the numbers may increase for the opposition parties if it won but it won't anticipated that the DMK would attempt to shake the assembly and on the other hand, the elections will screen the strong and crucial play in the stages of ADMK as the party has been lined up with heated accusations and controversies over its governance.
