VK Sasikala's health condition: Latest update from the hospital! When she will come to Chennai?

In a relief to her family members and supporters, VK Sasikala, who was the closest aide of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, has been on the path of recovery from the COVID-19 viral infection. She has been getting treated in Victoria Hospital in Bangalore and the development has come two days ahead of her release from the four-year prison sentence that he has been serving since February 2017 in Parappana Agrahara Central prison in Bangalore.

On Monday, Victoria Hospital has issued an update concerning Sasikala's health condition in which it had said that Sasikala is doing stable and the COVID-19 infection has been getting reduced. The hospital said that she is comfortable, taking oral food normally, and walking with support. She has been getting treated for COVID-19 as per standard treatment protocols and she is co-operative for treatment, and she is being continuously monitored. Sasikala has reported having blood sugar at a level of 205 on Monday and she has been receiving insulin.

According to reports close to the developments, 66-year-old Sasikala has currently been getting treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and as she has become stable, the hospital has decided to shift her to the normal ward from the ICU and she would possibly be getting shifted to the general ward on Monday. Though it's still unclear when she would be discharged, the reports say that she would be let free from the custody of the prison department after she has got released on January 27.

Bringing relief to her supporters and family members, who are camped in Bangalore, VK Sasikala will be arriving in Chennai following her hospitalization. The reports say that she would be arriving in Chennai in the first week of February and she would likely be staying in the residence of her relative Krishnapriya in T Nagar, Chennai and her supporters are expecting that she would plunge into active politics ahead of the assembly polls.

VK Sasikala has been serving the prison sentence in Bangalore after she was convicted in the Disproportionate Assets case in which Jayalalithaa was the first accused. While she was nearing her release on January 27, she had developed breathing difficulties and discomforts in the prison last Wednesday following which she was brought to Bowring Hospital in Bangalore at a state of low oxygen saturation level. The sudden setback on her health had shocked her family members and supporters and she was immediately given oxygen support and placed under the intensive care unit.

She was also diagnosed with Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) and developed positive symptoms of COVID-19 following which two COVID-19 tests were taken in Bowring and those two results were returned negative. However, her health condition warranted a CT scan and due to the non-functioning of scanning equipment, Sasikala was discharged from Bowring and shifted to Victoria Hospital in Bangalore on Thursday.

She had undergone a CT scan in Victoria Hospital, which revealed that she had contracted the COVID-19 viral infection on Thursday following which she was moved to the ICU for extensive monitoring. The hospital said that though she is stable, her health condition warrants continuous monitoring for which she was moved to the ICU. In its latest update on Monday, the hospital said that she has been doing stable and comfortable and her infection is getting reduced.

She would be getting shifted to the general ward likely on Monday and kept under observation. On the other hand, Illavarasi, who was imprisoned along with Sasikala for the same case, has also tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection and she has been getting treated in Victoria Hospital and the hospital has asserted that Illavarasi is doing stable and has been getting monitored continuously.
