VK Sasikala won't be shifted to another hospital: Here's why!

Hours after the circulation of reports that VK Sasikala would be transferred to Manipal Hospital on Friday, the expelled ADMK leader, who is on the verge of getting released from prison, remains to continue her treatment in Victoria Hospital, where she has been getting treated currently after her family members are satisfied with the treatment at the Victoria Hospital.

On Friday, Sasikala was said to be getting shifted to Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru from Victoria Hospital, which would be the third hospital that the leader would get admitted in the past three days. According to reports, Sasikala's family has requested that she be shifted to Manipal Hospital for higher treatment as she has been battling against the COVID-19 viral infection.

She was tested positive for the viral infection on Thursday and she has been getting treated at COVID-19 Trauma Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Victoria Hospital. While the reports said she will be shifted to Manipal Hospital on Friday based on the request of her family members, the decision of shifting her to Manipal Hospital was canceled on Friday evening after Sasikala's family had expressed their satisfaction with the treatment she is getting at Victoria Hospital following which she remains under continuous treatment in the Intensive Care Unit.

According to a news agency, the director of Victoria Hospital said that Sasikala's family members are happy with the treatment given to her at the hospital. The director stated that the hospital has all the facilities to treat her and her family has given consent to the treatment and they are satisfied with the treatment and facilities being provided by the hospital following which the decision of transferring her to another hospital was canceled.

Victoria Hospital has on Friday morning issued the health bulletin concerning Sasikala's health condition in which it has said that 66-year-old Sasikala is in the COVID-19 trauma Intensive Care Unit and she is being treated for COVID-19 severe pneumonia. The bulletin stated that she has diabetes, hypertension, and hypothyroidism.  Sasikala has been lodged in Parappana Agrahara Jail in Bengaluru since February 2017 and she is all set to get released on January 27.

However, on Wednesday, she had developed discomforts and complained of breathing difficulty. When she was initially treated at the hospital in the prison complex, she was then taken to Bowring Hospital for treatment. She was brought to Bowring Hospital on Wednesday with fever, breathing difficulty, and low oxygen saturation level.

She was immediately given oxygen support and was moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). With the positive symptoms, Sasikala had tested for the COVID-19 pandemic. While two tests at the Bowring Hospital returned negative for the viral infection, it also warranted that she must undergo a CT scan as she was diagnosed with the Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI). Due to the non-functioning of scanning equipment, her family members had expressed disappointment and asked Bowring Hospital to shift her to a private hospital for further treatments.

On Thursday afternoon, Sasikala has got discharged from Bowring Hospital and got admitted to Victoria Hospital at around 2.30 pm and the test on her swab samples had confirmed that she had contracted the COVID-19 viral infection. It was the third COVID-19 test that she had gone through and she was tested positive for COVID-19 at around 9.30 pm on Thursday, with the diagnosis of COVID-19 severe pneumonia with Type 2 Diabetes, Hypertension, Hypothyroidism. While addressing the media on Friday, the Superintendent of Victoria Hospital said that Sasikala has been doing stable and responding well to the treatments and the hospital said that Sasikala is stable, conscious, and not on the ventilator support.
