Besides rejoicing the winning momentum built by the Indian cricket team to avoid the whitewash against Australia in the third match of the three-match ODI series that held in Canberra on Wednesday, the Indian cricket fans and particularly the fans of skipper Virat Kohli had relished putting a 'WoW' record of the Indian captain to their store as Kohli has achieved a new feat that broke the record of master blaster Sachin Tendulkar.
Virat Kohli had delivered a captain's knock which was one of the important factors that drove the team towards a victory on Wednesday's match. Kohli had become the fastest cricketer to reach 12,000 runs in One Day Internationals (ODI). The 32-year-old skipper had scored 11,977 runs before Wednesday's game and Kohli had achieved the feat after he scored 63 runs in the third ODI against Aussies.
Kohli has scored 12,000 runs by playing in 242 innings which has become the fastest reach by any cricketer. Through his milestone, Kohli had broken the record of Sachin Tendulkar who scored 12,000 runs in his 300th inning. Kohli had reached the mark of 11,000 runs in his 222 innings while he already holds a milestone by becoming the fastest cricketer to score 10,000 runs in 205 innings.
The Indian skipper is the second-highest scorer for India in ODIs while Sachin Tendulkar being the first with 18,426 runs in 463 innings. Virat Kohli has been becoming one of the remarkable cricketers and he has made his ODI debut in 2008 against Sri Lanka and in a career of twelve years, Kohli has scored 43 ODI centuries and 59 fifties.
While Virat Kohli is in first place in the club of fastest cricketers scoring 12,000 runs, Sachin Tendulkar is in the second spot by scoring 12,000 runs in 300 innings and Ricky Ponting, Kumar Sangakkara, Sanath Jayasuriya, and Mahela Jayawardene are the other players in the list of top six players.
