The wait is finally over, as the brother duo Jayam Ravi and Mohan Raja, who have been eagerly anticipating the sequel to their blockbuster film ‘Thani Oruvan’. The latest word on the street has that the highly anticipated sequel to this beloved film is officially in production!

The filming will begin on August 28th, marking the eighth anniversary since the release of the first part. A thrilling test shoot is set to take place in Chennai tomorrow, signalling the start of what promises to be an even more epic and unforgettable adventure than the original. 

‘Thani Oruvan’ was a game-changer in Tamil cinema, as it showcased a thrilling cat-and-mouse game between an honest IPS officer Mithran (Jayam Ravi) and a cunning scientist-cum-businessman Siddharth Abhimanyu (Arvind Swamy). The film was praised for its gripping screenplay, stellar performances, and riveting music by Hiphop Tamizha. The film also marked the comeback of Arvind Swamy as a villain, who stole the show with his menacing act.

The sequel, titled ‘Thani Oruvan 2’, will see Jayam Ravi reprise his role as Mithran, while the female lead and the antagonist are yet to be revealed. Nayanthara played the love interest of Mithran in the first part, but it is not clear if she will return for the second part. Similarly, Arvind Swamy’s character met his end in the first part, so a new powerful villain will be introduced for Mithran to face. The film will be produced by AGS Entertainment, who also bankrolled the first part. The film will have an extended shooting schedule, as the makers are planning to make it on a grand scale. The film will also have high-octane action sequences and edge-of-the-seat twists and turns. The film is expected to release in 2024.
