In what has become a big surprise to the ardent fans of Rajinikanth, the superstar will be joining hands with the young director, who has directed only a movie so far. As the news is surfacing across social media, the fans are awestruck by Rajinikanth's decision to work with a new and young director. 

Rajinikanth is currently busy with the shooting of the movie 'Jailer' helmed by Nelson Dilipkumar and bankrolled by Kalanithi Maran under the banner of Sun Pictures. As the shooting is just heating up, the superstar's next 'Thalaivar 170' is buzzing on the internet and while directors Karthik Subbaraj, Desingh Periyasamy, and Atlee were on the list to direct Rajinikanth, the lucky draw was fetched by Atlee's assistant director.

According to sources, Don director Sibi Chakravarthi has won the race to direct Rajinikanth. Sivakarthikeyan starred 'Don' has been a blockbuster movie. Sibi's graph is growing high and there are speculations doing rounds that Lyca Productions is going to produce Thalaivar 170 while Anirudh will be composing the music. Ever since the announcement about the movie and the director was made, Rajinikanth fans are relishing the update. 

Don is produced by Subaskaran's Lyca Productions and while Sivakarthikeyan starred in the lead role, the movie has SJ Suriya, Priyanka Mohan, Samuthirakani, Kaali Venkat, Muniskanth, and Radha Ravi playing important roles. By grossing over 125 crores at the global box office, Don has been celebrated as a blockbuster movie. It is interesting to note that Sibi Chakravarthi had worked as an assistant to director Atlee in Mersal and Sibi's short film Bittu served the basis for the movie Don. 

On the other hand, Superstar Rajinikanth has begun his shooting for Jailer on August 22. While Rajinikanth plays the lead role, Jailer has roped in Sandalwood star Shiva Rajkumar, Yogi Babu, Ramya Krishnan, Vinayagan, and Vasanth Ravi will play crucial roles. The music is composed by Anirudh and after wrapping up this project, the superstar will be joining hans with Cibi Chakravarthi for his next movie, Thalaivar 170.
