For the past hours, Tweeple have been trending a hashtag to arrest Indian cricketer Virat Kohli (#ArrestKohli) and Tamil Nadu has been at the centre point behind the stunning trend after the state witnessed a murder where Kohli's fan killed a supporter of another cricketer, Rohit Sharma. After getting a light of the incident, the social media has been going crazy with the trend. 

Recently, 21-year-old Dharmaraj, who was an ardent fan of Virat Kohli, attacked 24-year-old Vignesh with a bottle and cricket bat after they tussled about the Indian team's performance in the 2019 World Cup. The dispute between the two men escalated into a fight after which Dharmaraj attacked Vignesh and fled the spot. The hashtag has confused many people, who are perplexed as to why some online users would call for the detention of a well-known cricketer.

The police claimed that during the argument, Vignesh started body shaming Dharmaraj for having a speech defect and comparing it to Kohli and RCB's performances. Both the victim and the accused belong to Poyyur village in the Ariyalur district. Investigating the case, the Keelapalur police said, "Both had consumed liquor and as per the initial investigation, Vignesh was supporting Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) while Dharmaraj was a supporter of Royal Challengers Bangalore. 

"During the course of their debate, Vignesh had allegedly mocked RCB and Virat Kohli. Vignesh had the habit of body shaming Dharmaraj, who was a stammerer. On that day he had made some remarks comparing the RCB team to the speaking difficulty of Dharmaraj. This infuriated Dharmaraj who attacked Vignesh with a bottle and later hit him with a cricket bat on the head. Dharmaraj soon fled the spot," said the police.

The police were notified when people on their way to work the following morning discovered Vignesh's body. Vignesh's body was taken by the police to the government hospital in Ariyalur for an autopsy, and a case had been registered. The hashtag #ArrestKohli, which was trending among netizens, calls for the arrest of the former captain of India. 

The accused, Dharmaraj was remanded in judicial custody. Amidst the wave of trend, One of the users wrote, "I am sorry Vignesh ! We can't even trend a simple tag #ArrestKohli for you .. We are Weak and Coward ." Another wrote, "Still Kohli Fans Defending that criminal guy Humanity died today  #ArrestKohli". Another user wrote, "Everyone is quite just bcoz he was fan of Rohit Sharma. We want justice Modi Ji."
