Viral story: Sachin Tendulkar's long wait ends...Pens a touching note to his son Arjun!

Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar's son Arjun Tendulkar has made his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday for Mumbai Indians in a match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. 23-year-old Arjun is a pacer and he opened the bowling for his team amidst a rousing reception from the audience.

Arjun Tendulkar was bought by Mumbai Indians in 2021 for Rs 20 lakh and retained him the next year for Rs 30 lakh. In 2021, he was pushed to withdraw due to an injury and in 2022, he was benched and in 2023, Mumbai Indians retained him. As the ongoing IPL season is picking up its pace, Sachin Tendulkar's wait to see his son Arjun donning the Mumbai Indians jersey in the field has come to an end on Sunday.

As Arjun made his IPL debut on Sunday, he also scripted a peculiar history as he has become the first son to play cricket for the same team that his father Sachin played for many years. To celebrate the moment of his son making a big move in his cricket career, Sachin was over the moon and he has penned a touching note in which he cited 'this is the start of a beautiful journey'.

Taking to Twitter, Sachin Tendulkar wrote, "Arjun, today you have taken another important step in your journey as a cricketer. As your father, someone who loves you and is passionate about the game, I know you will continue to give the game the respect it deserves and the game will love you back." "You have worked very hard to reach here, and I am sure you will continue to do so. This is the start of a beautiful journey. All the best!", he added.

Sachin's tweet has been going viral and it is pertinent to note that Sachin still stays with Mumbai Indians team as one of its mentors. On Sunday, Arjun, the left-arm seamer, opened the bowling for his team and gave five runs in his first over. He bowled two overs and conceded 17 runs and eventually, Mumbai Indians defeated Knight Riders in five wickets.
