As Shankar's long-awaited 'Indian 2' is going on the floors with the puja ceremony being conducted on Wednesday- August 24. The iconic movie, starred by Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan, has earlier roped in Padma Shri actor Vivek to play an important role. However, owing to Vivek's untimely demise last year, the movie team was pushed to find a replacement.
It is most likely that the replacement has been made. According to reports, popular actor Guru Somasundaram will play the role of Vivek in Indian 2. As the shooting is going to resume after several deferments, he is all set to reprise Vivek's role in the movie. The visuals of the puja and the ceremony have become the talk of the town and it was participated by director Shankar and several other crew members.
The Legend and Aranmanai 3 were two of the films in which the late, renowned actor Vivek (59), posthumously appeared after he demised of a cardiac arrest on April 17, 2021. Vivek, who had collaborated with Kamal Haasan for the first time, was roped in to play a CBI officer. Due to Vivek's untimely death, Guru Somasundaram will be replacing the former's role.
Somasundaram has impressed the audiences with his performances in the movies like 'Jigarthanda', 'Joker', 'Minnal Murali', and 'Maamanithan', which was his last movie. Several reports have confirmed that he has replaced Vivek. Through Indian 2, Shankar is joining hands with Kamal Haasan for the first time in 24 years and after a long hiatus, the movie is getting revived, which poured a sense of excitement to the fans.
Indian 2 is bankrolled by Subaskaran under his banner Lyca Productions and the movie has brought an ensemble cast. It is going to get distributed by Udhayanidhi Stalin's 'Red Giant Movies'. While Kamal Haasan plays the lead role, Kajal Aggarwal, Siddarth, Bobby Simha, Priva Bhavani Shankar, Rakul Preet Singh, Guru Somasundaram, and Samuthirakani will play important roles. Anirudh is composing the music and the cinematography is handled by Ravi Varman, who also worked for Manirathnam's Ponniyin Selvan, while the editing is done by Sreekar Prasad.
