Well-renowned director Gautham Vasudev Menon will soon be back with the sequel to his classical superhit movie 'Kaakha Kaakha' starred by Suriya. Kaakha Kaakha is one of the movies that gave a crucial breakthrough for Suriya and it was released in 2003. Suriya featured as Anbuselvan IPS and the story revolved around a cop gangster drama.

While Suriya played the lead role, Jyothika played the female lead and Kaakha Kaakha was produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu. Recently, the producer spilled the beans in an interview that the plans for the movie's sequel 'Kaakha Kaakha 2' are in place. Thanu was in an interview to promote his latest production 'Naane Varuven' starred by Dhanush.

Speaking about the Kaakha Kaakha sequel, Thanu said the project will start as per director Gautham Vasudev Menon's plan and that he has already given an advance for the film to the director. Thanu further said that Kaakha Kaakha 2 will be one of the successful movies of Gautham Vasudev Menon. "Gautham ought to respond to this. It is feasible. I already paid an advance to Gautham. It will be yet another valuable film for him when he returns", he added.

Kaakha Kaakha still remains a superhit movie that ascended the growth of both Suriya and Gautham Menon in their careers and the music for the movie was composed by Harris Jayaraj. RD Rajasekhar handled the film's cinematography and Kaakha Kaakha opened to overwhelmingly positive reviews. It became Suriya's first biggest success at the box office.

The movie has been remade in a number of languages as a result of its box office win. While Hindi and Kannda versions were helmed by other filmmakers, Gautham's Telugu remake, Gharshana (2004), starred Venkatesh and Asin. In Kannada in 2011, Kaakha Kaakha was remade under the title Dandam Dashagunam, starring Chiranjeevi Sarja and Ramya, and in Hindi under the title Force, starring John Abraham and Genelia D'Souza in the lead roles.
