Actor Dhanush has taken a legal baton against a Madurai couple for brewing the claims that the actor is their son. This couple is prominent across the state as they have been asserting that Dhanush is their son and that he should pay them compensation. After such a claim for several years, Dhanush has now restored to take action against them and he had sent a legal notice to the couple on May 20. 

In his legal notice, Dhanush had warned the couple that had they kept on claiming, he would be pushed to file a defamation suit against them for Rs 10 crore. The Madurai couple, Kathiresan and Meenakshi, is of the assertion that Dhanush is their biological son. By citing that the actor is their third son, the couple has further claimed that he had run away from their home to act in movies. The couple went on to seek a maintenance amount of Rs 65,000 per month from the actor. 

According to reports, Dhanush and his father Kasturi Raja had sent a legal notice to the couple through their lawyer Haja Mohideen Gisti and asked the couple not to make such fake claims. The notice from the lawyer reads, "My clients hereby call upon you both to desist from making false, untenable, and defamatory allegations against them henceforth. Failing compliance, my clients will be constrained to approach the competent courts to protect their rights in this regard and prevent you from carrying such false claims." 

The notice has also underlined that if any such claims were made in the future, both Kathiresan and Meenakshi will be prosecuted for causing defamation and consequent loss of their reputation. The actor and his father also urged the couple to issue a statement that all the claims made by them are false and issue an apology. In the notice, lawyer Gisti has further said that if the couple failed to do so they will be slapped with a suit of Rs 10 crore. 

On several occasions, the couple had claimed that Dhanush ran away from home while studying at school and that they came to know Dhanush has been acting in the movies through his movie 'Thiruda Thirudi'. They have been claiming that their relatives had informed them that Dhanush was their missing son. However, as per the records, Dhanush is the son of director Kasthuri Raja and his elder brother is Selvaraghavan, who is also a reputed director. On the work front, Dhanush awaits the release of his new Hollywood movie 'The Gray Man' directed by the Russo brothers.
