Pa Ranjith, the acclaimed filmmaker who is known for his socially conscious and progressive cinema, is currently busy with his upcoming magnum opus Thangalaan, starring Chiyaan Vikram in the lead role. The film, which is set in the pre-independence era, is expected to be a historical epic with a strong message.

But amidst his hectic schedule, Ranjith took some time off to meet his musical idol and inspiration, the legendary Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja. The director took to X, and shared a picture of him with the maestro, expressing his gratitude and admiration for the composer who has given countless gems to the Tamil film industry.

Ranjith also revealed that he gifted books to the legendary composer. Ranjith, who has always been vocal about his love for Ilaiyaraaja’s music,  meeting him was a dream come true and a memorable moment in his life. 

The director’s fans and followers were delighted to see the picture of the two icons and showered them with praises and wishes. Many of them commented that they were eagerly waiting for his next movie, Thangalaan and hoped that these two collaborations would soon come true.
