‘7G Rainbow Colony’, the 2004 film that touched millions of viewers with its realistic depiction of unrequited love, its soulful music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, and its stunning cinematography by Arvind Krishna, is all set to have a sequel.

The film’s director Selvaraghavan has confirmed that he is working on ‘7G Rainbow Colony 2’, which will feature Ravi Krishna reprising his role as Kadhir, the aimless youth who falls head over heels for Anita, his new neighbour from a well-to-do family. The sequel will explore the aftermath of Anita’s tragic demise in a car accident, and how Kadhir copes with his grief and guilt.

The buzz is that Selvaraghavan is in talks with several young actresses to play the new love interest of Kadhir. Among the names that are doing the rounds are Aditi Shankar, Ivana, and a few others. Aditi Shankar, who is the daughter of ace filmmaker Shankar, made her acting debut with the action drama ‘Viruman’ (2022), opposite Karthi, where Ivana who has appeared in films like ‘Naachiyaar’ , ‘Love Today’ and upcoming 'LGM'. 

Selvaraghavan is expected to finalise the heroine soon and make an official announcement. The film will also have Yuvan Shankar Raja returning as the music composer, while Arvind Krishna will handle the camera. The film will be produced by A.M. Rathnam under his banner Sri Surya Movies. The shooting of the film is said to begin in August last week.

‘7G Rainbow Colony’ was inspired by Selvaraghavan’s college days when he had been fascinated with a Punjabi girl during his education in KK Nagar. The film has a cult following among the fans of Tamil and Telugu cinema, who still remember its songs and dialogues. The sequel will be a treat for them as they will get to see how Kadhir’s story unfolds after 17 years.
