Vinayagar Chathurthi in TN: See how BJP's H Raja flagged a war of words between ADMK and BJP!

With just two days ahead for marking this year's Vinayagar Chathurthi, the Tamil Nadu BJP unit has been engaging in a political battle against the state ruling ADMK party over the latter's order of the banning the celebrations of the Vinayagar Chathurthi at the public places owing to the COVID-19 outbreak and the restrictions.

The BJP party has been eyeing to reiterate its Hindutva propaganda by fiercely attacking the ADMK regime on its order of prohibiting the Hindu festival. The state unit of the Central ruling party has been urging the state government to take back its order of ban on the festival by citing that it has allowed the resumption of TASMAC shops across the state. As this year's Vinayagar Chathurthi falls on August 22, the BJP and other Hindu outfits have been fastening its attack against the ADMK government to celebrate the festival at the public places.

The political battle has now become a war of words after BJP's H Raja had flagged the fresh battle between the parties that observe alliance. H Raja had stirred the controversy and outrage on social media platform through his remarks of comparing the Tamil Nadu government and the BJP government in Karnataka. In his Twitter message, H Raja said that the Karnataka government has consented the celebrations and public processions of Vinayagar Chathurthi in their state which indicated that the Karnataka government is a 'masculine government'.

By mentioning the term 'masculine', H Raja sparked the war of words between BJP and ADMK as it was seen as a strong insult to the ADMK government. Following his controversial tweet, the ADMK leaders had retorted against the BJP leader on Twitter. Raj Satyen, who is the IT wing secretary of ADMK, took to Twitter and voiced against H Raja by stating, "We know your masculinity when you lurked by blaming 'admin' after insulting the court". The ADMK leader said that Jayalalithaa's government is working for people and it doesn't require a certificate from H Raja and the ADMK leader asked Raja to prove his masculinity after securing over 999 votes independently.

Responding to the ADMK leader, BJP leader Nirmal Kumar charged the ADMK leaders by stating, "For thirty years, your masculinity was hidden behind a saree. Be proud of the masculinity that reared its head after visiting India's Chief - Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi". One of the ADMK's spokespersons Kovai Sathyan took to Twitter and responded to BJP's H Raja and in his message, he defined masculinity and said it lies in winning the scout elections. He mentioned Raja's defeat in the scout elections and he got only 58 of the 286 votes that were registered.

The scout elections were held in 2017 and H Raja contested to be the head of the Bharat Scouts and Guides in Tamil Nadu. However, he ended up meeting a huge defeat and his defeat has now recapped by the ADMK spokesperson for charging him against his masculine claim. By flagging the battle, H Raja has been asking the state government on how it can resume the TASMAC liquor shops when it banned the processions of the Vinayagar Chaturthi.

Earlier this month, the Tamil Nadu government has issued a ban for the installation and procession of Vinayagar idols and immersion of the idols on the water bodies in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak and restrictions. As the Vinayagar Chaturthi would see a gathering of huge crowds, the government had prohibited the celebrations at the public places, instead, it has appealed to the people to celebrate the festival at their respective homes. However, the BJP leaders and Hindu outfits have been waging a fight against the ADMK since it has issued the order.

One of the Hindu outfits had publicly told that it would defy the government's ban and vowed that it would be installing the Vinayagar idols in more than 1.50 lakh locations across the state. On Thursday, the Tamil Nadu government had pressed the ban on the Vinayagar Chaturthi celebrations at the public places and directed the people to celebrate indoors. While addressing the reporters after the government's statement, Tamil Nadu BJP President L Murugan said that the BJP will be backing the position of Hindu Munnani in Vinayagar Chathurthi celebrations.

By citing that the Hindu groups are asking permission for the installation of the idols and not for the procession, Murugan asked the Tamil Nadu government why it hasn't permitted the request of the Hindu groups when it has resumed the TASMAC liquor shops. According to the reports, the Chennai police department had held discussions with the Hindu groups on Thursday during which the police commissioners had instructed the Hindu groups to adhere to the orders and guidelines issued by the state government and the department has also warned that strict action will be taken against those who conduct the processions by violating the ban.
