Popular Tamil actor Vikram has on Friday - July 8 admitted to a private hospital in Chennai due to a sudden health setback. The ardent fans of the actor and several fraternities have been stunned to learn about the development and they have been extending their wishes to the actor for a speedy recovery.
According to reports, Vikram has been admitted to Kauvery Hospital in Alwarpet in Chennai. The sudden hospitalization of a famous actor has spurred a wave of hearsays and it was circulated that Vikram had suffered a cardiac arrest. Amid the spread of these rumours, the hospital issued its first statement concerning the actor's health condition in which it affirmed that Vikram didn't have a cardiac arrest.
In a statement, Kauvery Hospital's Chief Aravindan Selvaraj said, "Popular Tamil actor Mr Vikram has been admitted in Kauvery Hospital with complaints of chest discomfort. He was evaluated and treated by our team of specialist doctors. He did not have a cardiac arrest, is currently clinically stable and will be discharged from the hospital soon."
Earlier, the sources in the know said that Vikram was shifted to a normal ward and he will most likely get discharged in the evening hours of Friday. The hospital's official statement has brought a huge relief to the actor's fans. However, they would miss the actor at a grand event of the teaser launch of the movie 'Ponniyin Selvan' that would be held at 6 pm on Friday in Chennai Trade Centre.
Vikram is playing a lead role in this magnum opus project helmed by Mani Ratnam. Besides Ponniyin Selvan, Vikram awaits the release of 'Cobra' which would hit the screens this August. Cobra is helmed by Ajay Gnanamuthu and while Vikram plays the lead role, KGF fame Srinidhi Shetty, former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan, Mirnalini Ravi, KS Ravikumar, and Miya George will be playing important roles. While Cobra will be released on August 11, Ponniyin Selvan will hit the big screens on September 30 and AR Rahman has composed the music for both the movies.
