Vikas Dubey encounter: Opposition leaders claim he was killed to cover-up his links!

While, on one hand, the residents in Bikaru village in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh celebrated the death of Gangster Vikas Dubey by distributing sweets by expressing that their village is very happy on the death of the hooligan, on the other hand, the opposition parties in Uttar Pradesh have said that the gangster has killed by the police to cover up his links and political nexus.

Vikas Dubey was under the scanner of the state police department, which launched a manhunt operation to trace and locate the gangster for reportedly shooting and killing eight state police officers including a deputy superintendent of police last Friday while the officers approached the gangster to arrest him. Following the development, the state government has installed 25 special teams to locate and arrest Vikas Dubey.

The special team probed to arrest the hooligan and in a week's time, the police killed five members of Vikas Dubey's gang and on Thursday, the Special Task Force (STF) has arrested Vikas Dubey in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. When the gangster was being brought to Uttar Pradesh, the convoy vehicle that carried him had overturned due to heavy rains in the morning hours of Friday in Kanpur. While the mishap injured the gangster and some police personnel, Vikas Dubey reportedly snatched the pistol from a police officer, threatened the policemen, and attempted to flee the spot.

However, the policemen had carried a shoot out as a retaliatory move in which they shot Vikas Dubey in his chest and heart. The police had informed that the gangster has been killed in the police encounter as retaliation. When the nation woke up to witness a crucial development in the manhunt, it has combinedly erupted voices from both sides of the aisle.

The residents of Vikas Dubey's native village Bikaru distributed sweets after learning that the gangster has been killed in the police encounter whereas the regional and national parties went skeptical behind the death and said that the encounter has been done to cover up his links and to save the state government. Opposition leaders including Congress party's Priyanka Gandhi, BSP Chief Mayawati, and Samajwadi's Akhilesh Yadav.

Akhilesh Yadav was one of the first leaders to comment on the encounter. He said that 'the car didn't overturn. It was an effort to save the government from the revelation of secrets'. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi took to Twitter and asked 'The Culprit is finished, but what about the crime and the people who protected it?'. In line with her, Congress leader Kapil Sabil said that the encounter was already predicted by many and asked whether the killing was done to conceal his political nexus.

BSP Chief Mayawati has called for a high-level inquiry into the encounter. She demanded that the probe must be held under the Supreme court to determine the nexus between the police, criminal, and politician. RLD's leader Jayant Chaudhury said that this encounter drama has been created to save the real culprits who are behind the death of eight policemen.

Apart from the political leaders, Twitter has seen some of the early predictions that Vikas Dubey will be encountered. While news of Vikas Dubey's arrest came out, some of the Twitterattis said that he will be killed in an encounter. A TV journalist has tweeted the early prediction which has actually happened while another user said that he's keeping RIP Dubey tweet ready, even before the gangster was killed. The Twitter users have been trending hashtag of 'Fake Encounter' on Twitter.

However, the family members of eight police officers who were shot and killed by Vikas Dubey's gang welcomed the development and said that they got justice. One of the injured police officers in the last week shoot out said that "It has brought solace to my soul. It would restore public confidence in police and government".
