Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu 2: Gautham Menon have some exciting update on the Ulaganayagan's cult cop thriller

Fans for the duo Kamal Haasan and Gautham Menon's cop thriller, have a reason to rejoice as the duo is all set to reunite for the sequel of their 2006 blockbuster Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu. The film, which was a neo-noir action crime thriller, featured Kamal Haasan as DCP Raghavan, a tough and smart cop who investigates a series of brutal rapes and murders that span across India and the US.

In a recent interview with The Hindu, Gautham Menon confirmed that he has narrated the story of Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu 2 to Kamal Haasan and he has liked it. He said that he is planning to start work on the sequel after the release of his upcoming film Joshua: Imai Pol Kaakha. He also revealed that the sequel will have Raghavan dealing with a new case that will take him to different countries.

“I am a huge fanboy who wrote that scene even though the rest of the film was not like that, just for the audience to celebrate this man. You step aside from the filmmaker you are momentarily. That was a fan’s tribute. Vettaiyaadu Villayadu 2 also has a similar opening scene and I’m really looking forward to shoot that,” he said.

The film also starred Jyothika, Kamalinee Mukherjee, Prakash Raj, Daniel Balaji and Salim Baig in pivotal roles. Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu was praised for its gripping storyline, stylish direction, stunning cinematography, pulsating music and stellar performances.

The film was one of the first Indian films to be made using Super 35 and was shot extensively in New York City. The film was a huge commercial success and won several awards, including the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actor for Kamal Haasan.

The news of Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu 2 has created a lot of excitement among the fans who are eagerly waiting to see Kamal Haasan reprise his iconic role as Raghavan. The film is expected to go on floors in 2023 and will be produced by VTV Ganesh, who had a cameo role in the first part. The film will also mark the third collaboration between Kamal Haasan and Gautham Menon after Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu and Unnaipol Oruvan.

Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan is busy with his political commitments as the chief of Makkal Needhi Maiam party. He is also awaiting the release of his magnum opus Indian 2, directed by Shankar, which is a sequel to his 1996 hit film Indian. The film also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Siddharth, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Bobby Simha in important roles.
