The Tamil Nadu ruling ADMK has strongly flayed the state unit of BJP in its propaganda of conducting the 'Vetrivel Yatra' across the state ahead of the assembly polls. The development that the ruling party had rivaled with its ally BJP over the yatra has come days ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to Chennai.
Affirming its stand on voicing against the BJP's campaign, the ruling ADMK had shocked the BJP and staunchly penned why it has denied the permission for BJP in conducting the yatra. In its mouthpiece 'Namadhu Amma', the state ruling party said that it won't allow politics based on caste and religion.
Keeping the controversial Karuppar Kootam Youtube Channel and the BJP's Vetrivel Yatra on the same tray, the ADMK asserted that the state government under its leadership will not give space for politics based on religious hatred. According to reports, the state ruling ADMK and the Central ruling BJP have been locking horns against each other over the yatra at a high time when the allied parties are preparing for the assembly polls.
Causing a drift and furor, both the parties are strongly eyeing not to turn back from their respective decisions. Flaying the yatra in its mouthpiece, the ADMK party said that the peaceful state of Tamil Nadu will not permit such rallies that are aimed at dividing people on the basis of caste and religion. The Tamil Nadu people had proven that to the country that the Dravidian cradle of the state is the place where religion is considered as a guiding lamp for human beings and not to propagate hatred.
The state ruling party further said that it will not give grounds for the vote-bank politics based on religion and the party had urged the people attached or participating in the Vetrivel Yatra to understand the peace and unity among the people in the state. In what has become a scathing attack against the BJP, the ADMK has been reprimanding the BJP leaders in carrying out the yatra.
The Vetrivel Yatra, which the BJP hoped to have a breakthrough in the upcoming polls by covering a major voter base, is a month-long campaign which has been planned by the saffron party from November 6 to December 6 and during the campaign, the BJP had planned to tour six adobes of Lord Murugan in Tamil Nadu. However, the state ruling ADMK had denied its permission to the yatra.
The government has cited the COVID-19 spread and restrictions for large scale gathering as the reason for denying its permission to the yatra. The ruling ministers had pressed their stances against the BJP in carrying out the campaign. However, despite the ban, the BJP leaders had begun the campaign on November 6 from Tiruttani, Thiruvallur. However, the police department had arrested the BJP leaders including state president Murugan for defying the ban and organizing the rally against the government's order.
With the allied parties getting rivaled each other over the campaign, the ADMK has now flayed the BJP for its religion-based politics and ADMK's have come days ahead of Amit Shah's visit to Chennai. The Home Minister will be visiting the city on November 21 with the main agenda of reviewing how the BJP state unit is prepared for the upcoming assembly polls.
