Naga Chaitanya, one of the most popular actors in Telugu cinema, is all set to make his Tamil debut with Custody, an action thriller directed by Venkat Prabhu. The film, which also stars Krithi Shetty, Arvind Swamy, Priyamani and Sarath Kumar in pivotal roles, was released in theatres on May 12 in both Telugu and Tamil languages. However, the film received a mixed response from the critics and the audience and failed to make a mark at the box office.
But now, the fans of Naga Chaitanya and Venkat Prabhu have a reason to rejoice as Custody is gearing up for its OTT premiere on Amazon Prime Video. The film's director wittily shared the news by a selfie video. He wrote, "Embark on an electrifying journey alongside Constable Siva as he fearlessly navigates a treacherous maze of corruption, deceit, and lies! #CustodyOnPrime, June 9". And the OTT giant also has announced the update by taking us to Twitter.
Custody is a story of Shiva (Naga Chaitanya), a young and honest police constable who is assigned the duty of escorting Raju (Arvind Swamy), a notorious criminal, to Bengaluru for a court hearing. However, he faces many challenges and threats from various sources who want Raju dead. How Shiva manages to protect Raju and fulfill his duty forms the crux of the film.
The film boasts of a stellar star cast and a talented crew. Krithi Shetty plays the love interest of Naga Chaitanya, while Priyamani essays the role of a senior police officer. Sarath Kumar plays a politician who has a connection with Raju.
The film also marks the first collaboration of music legends Ilaiyaraaja and Yuvan Shankar Raja, who have composed the songs and background score respectively. The film also features some high-octane action sequences choreographed by Stunt Silva. The film is produced by Suresh Productions and People Media Factory.
