US President Donald Trump and his wife Melania test positive for COVID-19!

US President Donald Trump and his wife, First Lady Melania Trump have tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection and the duo had become one of the powerful global leaders confirmed to have contracted to the global pandemic and the shocking development has come when the President has been caught up in the middle of the US presidential election, which is just a month away.

Donald Trump, who has been shaping his term in office as a controversial presidency, has taken to Twitter to break the news that he and his wife had tested positive for the pandemic. In his tweet, he wrote, "Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!"

He has spelled positive for the viral infection hours after one of his closest aides Hope Hicks had contracted the disease. Donald Trump, who was keen in downplaying the threat of the virus for many months amid peaking numbers in his own country, announced on late Thursday night that he has put himself in quarantine after Hope Hicks had tested positive. By taking to Twitter, the President said, "Hope Hicks, who has been working so hard without even taking a small break, has just tested positive for Covid 19. Terrible! The First Lady and I are waiting for our test results. In the meantime, we will begin our quarantine process!"

The results of the President and First Lady had returned positive, pushing the couple to go under quarantine at the high time when the US Presidential election is just a month away and when Donald Trump has been hoping for his second term in office. According to reports, 31-years-old Hope Hicks had earlier this week traveled with the President on Air Force One.

While speaking to Fox News on Thursday night, Trump said that he and the first lady had spent a lot of time with Hicks. The reports say the White House particularly the Oval Office has been under the health scanner after the virus has got the grounds of spread around the President. The White House had tightened the precautions even as the United States has been steering through the strong wave of the outbreak by being the worst-hit country by the pandemic with over 7.3 million cases.

Earlier, several White House staffers had tested positive for COVID-19 including the National Security Adviser Robert O'Brien and Katie Miller, the press secretary of Vice-President Mike Pence. Recently, the White House Deputy Press Secretary told that the President takes the health and safety of himself very seriously as he takes for everyone who works in support of him and the American people.

The 74-years-old President has been on the national tour ahead of the US elections and he has been taking part in campaigns and debates in his bid to retain the office amid the heated grounds of allegations leveled against him on his handling of the COVID-19 outbreak and addressing the racism, that has become a long-simmering issue in the United States and the current US election has keenly and unprecedently been watched by the globe as the fight between the two rivals has been getting intensified with Trump had already finished his first round of Presidential debate with Democratic nominee Joe Biden.

According to Reuters, Hope Hicks had accompanied the President on Air Force One to Ohio for the Presidential debate on Tuesday and to Minnesota for a campaign event on Wednesday. Trump has become one of the world leaders tested positive for the novel coronavirus as earlier British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro had spelled positive for the pandemic.
