As part of the relaxations announced by the Central government in the fifth phase of the lockdown, the restaurants, places of worship, and religious places are all set to open across the country apart from the containment zones on June 8 - Monday and with the view to ensure that people follow the health protocols upon the resumption of the restaurants, the Tamil Nadu government has issued the guidelines when people check-in the hotels for dining.
The dining services in the restaurants are going to resume after two months of the shut down in the wake of the lockdown and the government has directed the restaurants and customers to adhere to the advisories. As per the guidelines, the restaurants must re-arrange the seating structure and it must maintain a distance of one square meter between the tables so that the customers have dine-in with social distancing norms.
The restaurants outside the containment zones are allowed to open and offer dining services and they have been ordered to allow 50% of the total capacity in the dining areas, elevators, take away counters, and waiting areas. The restaurants must carry out regular sanitization and disinfection and they should install separate entry and exit points and must use disposable menu cards instead of the regular framed ones.
By restricting the usage of the air conditioners, the government has instructed the restaurants to install proper air ventilation facilities and they have been asked to use paper in place of cloth napkins. The employees of the restaurants have been ordered to wear face masks and gloves at all times and they must sanitize their hands every thirty minutes. The government has asked the employees of the restaurants to install the Aarogya Setu app in their mobiles.
The government has also advised the employees who are at old age and co-morbid conditions to stay vigil and adhere to the measures while they are at work and it has asked the restaurants to refrain from using biometric attendance. By instructing the restaurants to clean the commodities well before cooking, the guideline has further asked to use the digital platforms for cashless transactions with the customers like online money transfer and QR codes as these would largely constrain the direct cash dealings.
Amid the Coronavirus outbreak, the restaurants are preparing to resume the dining services after two months as the government had banned the dine-in services in the wake of the lockdown and permitted the establishments to carry out delivery services. However, the Tamil Nadu state government is yet to announce whether it would consent the resumption of the religious places and the places of worship.
