With more people from the party joining the chorus, the orchestra for elevating Udhayanidhi Stalin in the DMK has been growing louder each day, which has been fueling the speculations that MK Stalin's son will be made a cabinet minister in the state. Udhayanidhi Stalin is currently the first time MLA, representing the Chepauk-Triplicane constituency. He has also been heading the DMK's Youth Wing as its Secretary.
Recently, as MK Stalin has completed six months as the Chief Minister, Tamil Nadu has witnessed the rise of voices that demanded to induct Udhayanidhi Stalin into the cabinet as a minister. From ministers Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi and KN Nehru to a Congress leader, several cadres within the party had batted for the elevation of Udhayanidhi Stalin from their pitches and stressed that Udhayanidhi's dedication to serving the people shouldn't be contained within a constituency.
However, amid the growing voices, Udhayanidhi Stalin has last week affirmed that he has no desire to become the minister and that he wishes to act as a bridge between the people and the Chief Minister. Days after his affirmation, a DMK MLA has now joined the chorus of elevating the Stalin junior as the minister and this legislator has also said that Udhayanidhi Stalin will lead the party in the future and that they will march behind him by accepting his leadership.
According to reports, Palani MLA Senthil Kumar was the one who campaigned for Udhayanidhi's elevation. Senthil Kumar is the son of Periasamy, the senior DMK leader who is now serving as the Minister for Co-operatives in MK Stalin's cabinet. The party's membership event was held on Sunday in Batlagundu in the Dindigul district and while addressing the event, Senthil Kumar has said that Tamil Nadu is now leading through various schemes and projects from Chief Minister MK Stalin.
Senthil Kumar further said, "DMK's Youth Wing Secretary Udhayanidhi Stalin has been supportive for the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister. Udhayanidhi would soon become the minister and he has all the qualities to become a minister. So, he should take charge as a Tamil Nadu Minister. Like how MK Stalin is running the party after M Karunanidhi, Udhayanidhi Stalin will lead the party in the future. We will definitely accept that."
Earlier, it was reported that discussions were underway in MK Stalin's close circle to induct Udhyanidhi Stalin into the cabinet. While it was said that he will become the minister during the first year anniversary of MK Stalin's rule, the reports say that the actor-turned-politician will most likely be made the minister after the upcoming urban local body polls. MK Stalin's cabinet has 34 ministers currently and as per the norms, Tamil Nadu can have a maximum of 34 ministers and should Udhayanidhi Stalin be inducted into the cabinet, any one of the current ministers must be removed.
