As MK Stalin-led DMK government has completed its first year in office, the demand for elevating Stalin's son Udhayanidhi Stalin has been growing across the state. In the midst of strong speculations that Udhayanidhi Stalin would be elevated as the minister next month, Tamil Nadu has now witnessed yet another pressing resolution from a district to the high command over taking Udhayanidhi to the next level of politics.
Udhayanidhi Stalin has been serving as the DMK MLA of the Chepauk-Triplicane constituency and he has also been holding the office of the DMK's Youth Wing Secretary. In recent times, several leaders in the party had armed the elevation of Udhayanidhi Stalin and speculations have been doing rounds over the portfolio that would be allotted to him, had he become the minister.
According to reports, the Trichy district DMK unit has now adopted a resolution urging the party leadership to appoint Udhayanidhi Stalin as the minister. The executive committee meeting of the Trichy south district DMK has held on Monday - May 30 and the meeting was led by Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, who is also a close friend of Udhayanidhi Stalin.
In the meeting, the minister and the district level functionaries had discussed organizing a grand event to celebrate late DMK President Karunanidhi's 99th birth anniversary on June 3. DMK has planned to organize various events on the birth anniversary of the party's stalwart where the party will be providing welfare assistance across the state.
The meeting had the presence of senior district leaders and MLA of Trichy East, Inigo Irudhayaraj. Besides charting a plan to celebrate Karunanidhi's birthday, the meeting had also proposed a resolution urging the party leadership to appoint Udhayanidhi Stalin as a minister. The resolution was unanimously adopted as every participant in the meeting had backed Udhayanidhi's elevation as a minister.
The development has drawn major attention and several leaders are also planning to adopt such resolution in their districts. The demand to make Udhayanidhi Stalin a minister has been brewing in the state for several months and a Congress leader went on to write to Chief Minister MK Stalin to appoint his son as the Deputy Chief Minister. While such demand grows, the reports say that the stage is set for Udhayanidhi's elevation in June and he will be a cabinet minister with a key portfolio.
Recently, senior Tamil Nadu Minister KKSSR Ramachandran has given an open statement that Udhayanidhi Stalin is ready to become the Chief Minister after MK Stalin. Supporting his open statement, Ramachandran said that everyone has to work hard to grow in the party. He divulged that MK Stalin came after Annadurai and Kalaignar Karunanidhi. Udhayanidhi Stalin will come after MK Stalin. Amid a round of applause, Ramachandran said, "We can't call it an heir politics. Though they are political heirs, to grow in the party through hard work." He further said that no throne is given to the heir immediately after joining the party.
