Trending Update: Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan enters the 1000 crores club! Here're the deets you need to know

Since nearly a month, the magic of Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham, still hasn't worn off. The film, directed by Siddharth Anand, has received a rapturous response from audiences around the world and has grossed over 1000 crores now. The makers announced the box office success on their social media handle, and relishingly shared that Pathaan is the fifth Indian film to gross over a billion dollars worldwide.

During its first phase of release, the film notched up over 600 crore, which is reported by Box Office Worldwide. The film's second phase of release saw it break the 1,000 crore mark at the global box office after it opened in Chinese theatres. Yash Raj Films (YRF) which bankrolling the actioner, took to Twitter and captioned, "#Pathaan hits ₹1000 crores worldwide".

They also shared a poster along with deets about the box office numbers which reads, "First Hindi Film to breach ₹1000 Cr Worldwide barrier during phase I of release." They also reported that in India the film grossed ₹623 crores, and in overseas the film garnered ₹377 crores. The plot of "Pathaan" centres on the titular spy, played by Shah Rukh Khan, who returns from exile in order to prevent a terrorist organisation known as Outfit X from launching a crippling attack on India.

Earlier in the success meet, the film crew also dropped the relishing update that the film possibly to continue with a sequel. At the event Shah Rukh Khan said, "For as long as Siddharth Anand needs me to reprise my role in Pathaan 2, I will. It would be an incredible honour to return for a second film, if one is indeed planned." Salman Khan, Ashutosh Rana, and Dimple Kapadia also play important roles in the film.

Released on 25th January 2023, the film's budget is Rs 250 crore, and it features cinematography by Satchith Paulose, music by Vishal and Sheykhar, and editing by Aarif Sheikh. In Pathaan, the fourth film in Aditya Chopra and Yash Raj Films' Spy Universe, Salman Khan reprises his role as Tiger in an extended cameo appearance. Shah Rukh Khan's next film is Jawan, directed by Atlee, in which Deepika Padukone, Vijay Sethupathy, and Vijay all play significant roles.
