Vaathi, the period action drama film starred Dhanush released on February 17th 2023. The movie is written and directed by Venky Atluri, who has garnered a lot of attention with his previous works. The film was shot simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu, with the latter titled as Sir.

The film's satellite rights have already been sold to the Sun TV Network while thedigital streaming rights have been bought by Netflix India, and as per reports this drama is to be released on 17th March 2023. G.V. Prakash Kumar has composed the music for the movie. The movie is produced by two Tollywood studios, Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas.

Vaathi is based on an incident that took place in the 1990s. The plot follows the struggle of a teacher who tries to prevent the privatization of government schools. The film features an impressive cast, with Dhanush and Samyuktha in primary roles, along with P. Sai Kumar, Tanikella Bharani, Samuthirakani, and Hyper Aadi.
