Pradeep Ranganathan's second directorial and his first acting debut film Love Today was released to theatres on November 4, 2022. The portrayal of modern love in the age of social media quickly gained traction with the film's target to young adults. The town was surprised when Phantom Studios, the production company of Netflix's famous producer, announced on Monday that they would be adapting a romantic comedy into Hindi belt.
Netflix's famous producer Srishti Behl says, "We’re delighted to be partnering with AGS Entertainment to bring Love Today to life in Hindi. This entertaining look at love in today’s technology forward world is exactly the kind of authentic and provocative storytelling that Phantom Studios has always stood for. As we usher in a new era at Phantom Studios, we will continue to innovate with our stories and storytellers, creating engaging and relevant content for a diverse audience, delivered across platforms," in a statement.
Archana Kalpathi, Creative Producer of AGS Entertainment who backed the origin Tamil, said they are excited to be able to share this story for a larger audience. She said, "With its reputation of always striving to produce good cinema, joining hands with Phantom Studios was a no-brainer and we look forward to working with them. As a production house, we constantly strive to explore new horizons and offer our audiences the best of entertainment. Love Today is a project that is very close to our hearts and we are thrilled to be able to share this story with a larger audience,"
The rumours also reported earlier that popular Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan to play the lead in the remake, and his father and popular director David Dhawan to direct the film. However the official confirmation is yet to make regarding the cast and crew on the Bollywood version. The film is expected to release in early 2024 as per the reports.
While Ivana played the opposite to the actor in origin Tamil version, where Sathyaraj, Radhika Sarathkumar, Raveena, and Yogi Babu played the crucial supporting roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the background score, Dinesh Purushothaman shot the movie and Pradeep E. Ragav edited it. Love Today was a second directorial debut for Ranganathan after Comali, starred Jayam Ravi.
