Fan of rural action dramas, surely have a huge craze for Subramaniapuram, the debut film of director Sasikumar that released in 2008. The film, which starred Sasikumar, Jai, Samuthirakani and Swathi Reddy in the lead roles, was a critical and commercial success that introduced many new talents to the Tamil film industry. Taking to Twitter, Sasikumar revealed that the film will be re-released in theatres all over Tamil Nadu on August 4, 2023. He wrote, "Re-release of Subramaniapuram in theatres all over Tamil Nadu on August 4, 2023. Relive the experience once again."

The film, which is set in the 1980s, revolves around the lives of five friends who get involved in politics and crime in Madurai. The film showcases the friendship, love, betrayal and revenge among the characters in a realistic and gripping manner. The film also has a twist ending that shocked the audience when it first released.

Subramaniapuram is one of the cult classics of Kollywood that has influenced many filmmakers and actors. Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap has admitted that the film inspired him to make Gangs of Wasseypur, a gangster action crime film that became a huge hit. Sasikumar has also revealed that he envisioned his lead characters as Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan while writing the script.

The re-release of Subramaniapuram is a rare opportunity for fans to watch the film on the big screen again and relive the nostalgia.
