In the lead - up of the success of Maanaadu, Gautham Vasudev Menon's "Venduthaninthathu Kaadu," Simbu has a full plate with exciting projects in his pipeline. The release date for Obeli N. Krishna's 'Pathu Thala,' in which Simbu plays a crime lord-powerful gangster named AGR, was finally announced at the end of the year, much to the delighting news for his fans.
Pathu Thala is a gangster drama starring Silambarasan TR aka Simbu and is a remake of the Kannada film Mufti. The plot of the original flick 'Mufti centers on Gana, a police officer who must undertake a covert operation to track down and eliminate the crime lord Bhairathi Ranagal. As per the official statement from the production house, the film will be finally hit silver screens on March 30th 2023.
Studio Green bankrolling the project on Saturday took to Twitter and dropped the major update by writing, "Celebration Begins Here's the #NewYear2023 Delight from #PathuThala We are super excited to release Pathu Thala In Theatres From March 30 Worldwide #StudioGreen Release #PathuThalaFromMarch30".
The original Kannada film 'Mufti' starred Shivarajkumar and Sriimurali as the lead. In the Tamil version, Simbu is reprising Shivarajkumar's role. Gautham Karthik, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Gautham Menon, Teejay, and Kalaiyarasan among others in pivotal roles. Also there also a enticing buzz doing rounds that the makers of 'Pathu Thala' have planned some grand promotions for the film, and there will be a grand audio launch for the film in early week of March.
AR Rahman composed the musical score for this movie which is bankrolled by Studio Green and Pen Studios. Praveen KL is handling the editing and Farook Basha is taking care of the cinematography. Obeli N Krishna, lastly helmed Nedunjalai in 2014. He is also fame for directing Siliunu Oru Kadhal', and Hippi was his his last Telugu venture on 2019.
