In a surprising and exciting development, former Indian cricket captain and World Cup hero Kapil Dev has joined the cast of Lal Salaam, the upcoming Tamil film directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth. The film, which features actors Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in lead roles, also has a special appearance by Superstar Rajinikanth as Moideen Bhai, a Mumbai-based don.
For the fans to be treated good, the director took to Instagram and shared bunch of pictures featuring the legendary cricketer on the sets of Lal Salaam, writing, "#lalsalaam moideen bhai ! And off we go to our next schedule ,kudos team and @therealkapildev sir you are a darling see you soon ! #thankfulgratefulblessed".
Rajinikanth also took to Twitter on Thursday to share a picture with Kapil Dev and express his honor and privilege of working with the legendary cricketer, who led India to its first World Cup victory in 1983. He wrote: “It is my honor and privilege working with the Legendary, most respected and wonderful human being Kapildevji., who made India proud winning for the first time ever…Cricket World Cup!!! #lalsalaam #therealkapildev".
Lal Salaam is Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s third feature film as a director, after 3 and Vai Raja Vai. The film has music by Oscar-winner AR Rahman, who has collaborated with Aishwarya Rajinikanth for the first time. The film also boasts of a talented technical crew, including cinematographer Vishnu Rangasamy, editor Pravin Baaskar and stunt choreographer Peter Hein. The film is produced by Subashkaran of Lyca Productions.
Lal Salaam is expected to release official update on teaser soon. The film has already generated a lot of buzz among the fans of Rajinikanth and Kapil Dev, who are eagerly waiting to see their icons on the big screen together.
