Pathu Thala is a gangster drama starring Silambarasan TR aka Simbu and is a remake of the Kannada film Mufti. There had been rumors that the film would debut in December, but those plans were recently changed, and a new release date update has been attracted. The actor's most recent film was Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and released on September 15 to glowing reviews from both audiences and critics.

The post-production work is currently underway in high gear. Although there hasn't been any official word about the new release date, sources tells that the team is preparing a grand theatrical release for Pathu Thala on March 30, 2023. Pathu Thala, which is directed by Obeli N Krishna, also features significant performances by Gautham Karthik, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Kalaiyarasan, and Teejay Arunasalam.

AR Rahman is composing the musical score for this movie which is bankrolled by Studio Green and Pen Studios. Kollywood director Obeli N Krishna, is known for helming the movies Siliunu Oru Kadhal' and 'Nedunjaalai. , The original Kannada film 'Mufti' starred Shivarajkumar and Sriimurali as the lead. In the Tamil version, Simbu is reprising Shivarajkumar's role. He is essaying the role of a gangster named AGR in the film.

Praveen KL is handling the editing and Farook Basha is taking care of the cinematography. The plot of the original flick 'Mufti centers on Gana, a police officer who must undertake a covert operation to track down and eliminate the crime lord Bhairathi Ranagal.
