Tour towards the South: PM Modi's well packed agenda and Pongal outreach in TN and Puducherry!

Amid the bustling days and political heat over the upcoming assembly polls in five states where the Central ruling BJP aims to have a retention and breakthrough, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is coming towards the South with the well-packed agenda. Modi has been busy for the past few weeks campaigning in the poll-bound Uttar Pradesh and he will be taking a brief break from the campaign trail for the Pongal outreach in Tamil Nadu.

The Prime Minister will be visiting Tamil Nadu on January 12 for the first time after the DMK came to power. During his Tamil Nadu tour, he will be visiting Madurai and Virudhunagar districts and will be inaugurating several medical colleges. He will be virtually inaugurating the medical colleges constructed in eleven districts - Nilgiris, Tiruvallur, Virudhunagar, Kallakurichi, Nagapattinam, Ariyalur, Krishnagiri, Dindigul, Ramanathapuram, Namakkal, and Tirupur.

The inaugural event will be attended by Chief Minister MK Stalin, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, and Tamil Nadu Health Ministre Ma Subramanian. The Prime Minister will also be taking part in various events. As Modi's visit comes during the Pongal festival, the Tamil Nadu BJP unit has cultivated a plan to make his visit a prospect for the party's growth in the state.

Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai has said that the Prime Minister will be participating in the Pongal festival at Madurai on January 12. The event will be organized under the name 'Modi Pongal' and is expected to be attended by several national BJP leaders. Annamalai has said that a 12-member organizing committee has been formed to take care and successfully conduct the Modi Pongal event.

The committee will be headed by state secretary Karu Nagarajan and he also had released the list of the members in the committee. The reports say the Modi Pongal event will be held at Mandela Nagar near Madurai airport on January 12. The Prime Minister has now extended his tour towards South to Puducherry as after inaugurating the medical colleges and taking part in the Pongal outreach, Modi will be flying to the Union Territory on January 12.

On Tuesday -January 4, Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has said that Narendra Modi will visit Puducherry on January 12 to inaugurate the National Youth Festival. While addressing the reporters after reviewing the Covid-19 vaccination drive for children aged between 15 and 18 years at a government girls' school, Tamilisai Soundararajan has said Modi would also be inaugurating a memorial of late Congress leader and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Kamaraj virtually.

The Prime Minister will also be visiting Sri Aurobindo Ashram. While BJP is in the ruling coalition in Puducherry, all eyes will be on the Prime Minister's Tamil Nadu visit as he will be welcomed by the state where his party crumbles with debacles. His meeting with Chief Minister MK Stalin will draw massive attention from across the nation. On the other hand, there have been speculations that Modi's tour will be deferred owing to the Covid spread in Tamil Nadu. However, the Prime Minister's Office is yet to announce whether there would be a deferment.
