One of the top leaders of the opposition party of Tamilnadu DMK and current member of Lok Sabha from Tuticorin constituency, Kanimozhi is ought to counter the challenge from the judiciary that has been levied on her through the petition filed in the Madras High court by the former state BJP president Tamilisai Soundararajan who had demanded that the victory of Kanimozhi is invalid and void.
Tamilisai Soundararajan, in her petition, had cited that Kanimozhi had failed to furnish the income of her husband who has the nationality of Singapore and further claimed that wiping off the details while filing the election nomination is against of the electoral norms.
She had indicated that there was objection made to the returning officer to suspend her nomination but the returning officer was deaf in directing the actions towards her nomination. Her petition reads that it had accounted for proven violations while filing the nomination and demanded the court to pronounce her victory from Tuticorin Lok Sabha constituency as invalid.
Kanimozhi was one of the star candidates in DMK led alliance who contested from Tuticorin Lok Sabha constituency while the party's important rival BJP had named the state president Tamilisai Soundararajan as its face to defeat the victory but eventually, Kanimozhi had swept the massive votes to register her victory.
The Madras High court had today taken the petition of Tamilisai Soundararajan to hearing which had issued notice to Kanimozhi and to the Election commission to file their justifications to determine that Kanimozhi had a legal victory.
