The Tamil Nadu state police had collected more than Rs 1 crore as fine from the people who reportedly violated the prohibitory orders and the lockdown restrictions imposed the state government to contain the spread of the COVID-19, which is the human to human transmitting virus.
According to the reports, the fine of such a larger amount had been collected by the state law enforcement agency from March 24th to till date as most of the people are taking a break from the lockdown rules, hopping out, and hitting the roads for unnecessary purposes.
The police department has booked 2.14 lakh cases against the people for violating the lockdowns so far and the department has arrested over 2.28 lakh people, filed First Information Report (FIR), and seized more than 1.94 lakh vehicles.
On Friday, amid the lockdown, the state Director General of Police (DGP) has issued a circular in which it has been stated that the seized vehicles will be released from the custody. The police have directed the owners to disclose the original registration certificate or driving license and the copy of the First Information Report (FIR). According to the reports, the state law enforcement agency has decided to release the vehicles as people would require the vehicles during emergency purposes.
The police department has deployed the forces across the state to review and monitor the movements of the people by installing the check posts and patrolling in the cities as the unprecedented experiment of the complete lockdown ordered the people to stay at home and refrain from the unnecessary travels to curb the spread of the virus.
The state government has appealed to the people to abide by the guidelines and directed the police department to initiate stern actions against the violators following which, they carried out extensive searches, levied penalties, booked cases, and seized vehicles from the violaters.
