The state of Tamil Nadu has reported 6,785 fresh cases that were tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19) on Friday through which the state's tally has neared to hit 2 lakh cases by reporting 1,99,749 cases so far in its territory including active, recovered, and deceased patients.
The current reporting of 6,785 cases has been recorded as the highest-single day rise of the state since the outbreak, surpassing the previous tally of 6,472 cases that were reported on Thursday.
The state health department has put out the latest developments concerning the outbreak and according to the official press release, Tamil Nadu has tested 22,23,019 samples so far including 65,150 that were tested on Friday of which 6,785 returned positive for the viral infection.

These 6,785 cases include the influx of 56 people who returned to Tamil Nadu from other regions. Of these 6,785 cases, 4,137 are males and 2,648 are female patients. 19 districts have accounted for major caseloads in the current reporting -Chennai has reported 1,299 cases, 424 cases belong to Virudhunagar, 419 cases belong to Chengalpattu, 378 cases belong to Thiruvallur, 349 cases belong to Kancheepuram, 326 cases belong to Madurai, and 313 cases from Thoothukudi.
Kanyakumari has reported 266 cases, 234 cases from Theni, 222 cases belong to Ranipet, 217 cases belong to Trichy, 189 cases from Coimbatore, 186 cases from Thanjavur, 179 cases from Kallakurichi, 174 cases from Vellore, 171 cases from Tirunelveli, 164 cases from Villupuram, 134 and 122 cases from Thiruvannamalai and Salem respectively. The state has reported 6,504 fresh discharges taking the total number of discharges to 1,43,297 so far.
The state has also recorded 88 fresh deaths taking the death toll to 3,320. According to the official press release, of these 88, 66 were recorded at the government hospitals while the rest are recorded at the private establishments. Of these 88 deaths, 22 deaths belong to Chennai, ten from Madurai, six deaths from Virudhunagar, five each from Thiruvallur, and Kanyakumari, four each from Chengalpattu, Coimbatore, Kancheepuram, and Tirunelveli.
Three each from Dindigul and Ranipet, two each from Tenkasi, Theni, and Tiruvannamalai, and one each from Ariyalur, Krishnagiri, Nagapattinam, Namakkal, Pudukottai, Salem, Sivagangai, Thirupathur, Thoothukudi, Trichy, Tiruppur, and Vellore. With the current reporting of 1,299 cases, Chennai has recorded 92,206 cases of which 76,494 have been discharged. 82 deaths out of 88 had identified with the co-morbid conditions.
While Chennai has been paving a major contribution, about twenty districts outside Chennai have been keeping its active contribution with the soaring cases of COVID-19 each day, leaving the state to keep surpassing the tally of the highest single-day rise. As of Friday, Tamil Nadu has reported 1,99,749 cases so far of which 53,132 are active, 1,43,297 have been recovered, and 3,320 had succumbed to the virus.
