TN Govt to conduct free coaching for NEET students - What do you need to know?

The Tamil Nadu state government has announced that it would be providing a free of cost online coaching to the government and government-aided school students who are preparing to appear for the NEET exams (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) in 2020 as they have been facing hindrance over attending the coaching institutions in the wake of the lockdown amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

According to the reports, the Tamil Nadu Department of School Education has collaborated with Amphisoft Technologies E-Box to provide free online training for the students. The online coaching would be commencing from June 15 and it would be offered for both Tamil and English medium students. The training would be of two sections - four hours of video lectures followed by four hours of practice and formative tests.

The reports stated that the entire course will cover 80 chapter-wise practice tests, 80 formative tests, five-unit tests, two half portion tests, and ten full portion tests and the registered students will be given with questions inclusive of the main subjects. The department has notified all the Chief Educational Officers on the latest development.

The registration for online coaching has begun on Wednesday. Earlier this week, Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Sengottaiyan said that a total of 7,300 government school students would be offered free NEET coaching classes for 35 days. This online facility would be aiding the students to study and prepare for the national examination from home.

For over weeks, the department has been training the teachers to offer the NEET coaching online and it has issued the web gateway for the students who are willing to appear for the exam this year for registering themselves for the online courses.

By citing the lockdown, the Center has recently deferred the date of NEET examination and as per the fresh notification, the nationwide examination has been scheduled on July 26th. By announcing the free online classes for NEET students, the government is yet to announce the official date of re-commencing the operations of the schools that have been closed for over two months.

The NEET online coaching would be getting started at the same time when the tenth-grade students would be appearing for the board exams which would be commencing on June 15 and run till June 25. The government has asked the students to write the exams in their respective schools and the authorities would be ensuring to make necessary arrangements in the schools to adhere to the safety protocols and social distancing norms.
