Tamil Nadu is hours ahead of unveiling who is the people's choice to rule the state for the next five years. The vote counting for the legislative election that was held on April 6 had begun on Sunday at 8 am amid intense expectations over who holds the edge to finish the race big to take over the reign. As per the electoral procedure, the postal ballots were first to be counted and the counting is underway in the 75 centers across the state.
Within some minutes into the counting, the state had gone into nail-biting moments with the mixtures of shocks and surprises as Tamil Nadu has been witnessing a very close race between the rivals. The state had seen five fronts in the race - ADMK and alliance, DMK and alliance, Kamal's Makkal Needhi Maiam, Dhinakaran's AMMK, and Seeman's Naam Tamilar Katchi. The BJP had contested in the ADMK alliance and the Congress had joined the DMK alliance.
While there has been a close race in the postal ballots between the ADMK and DMK, BJP took everyone into surprise as Tamil Nadu BJP President L Murugan has been leading in his constituency. According to reports, Murugan has contested in the Dharapuram constituency and took on DMK's Kayalvizhi. It is the first state election for Murugan and the development looks like he would have a breakthrough in his debut election.
By the time of writing this content, Murugan has secured 1,343, 479 votes more than his contender Kayalvizhi, who has got 864 votes. Apart from Murugan, no other BJP candidates including Annamalai and Vanathi Srinivasan are in the lead. Though the counting would last till the evening, the result will come to sight in the afternoon, and the development displays that there would be a close final margin, which would power ADMK to sit as a strong opposition party if it losses the race.
By the time of writing this content, the DMK led alliance leads in 47 seats and the ADMK alliance leads in 34 seats while Dhinakaran's AMMK opens the account by leading in one seat and Kamal Haasan leads in the Coimbatore South constituency. Several ADMK leaders including Thangamani and Vellamandi Natarajan are leading in their respective constituencies as Tamil Nadu unfolds who's its choice to rule the state.
