Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister and ADMK's Chief Coordinator Panneerselvam's brother Raja has been tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, reports say.
According to the reports close to the developments, Raja has been admitted to the Apollo Hospitals in Madurai and getting treated under isolation. The younger brother of the ADMK leader has been asymptomatic while confirmed to have contracted to the virus.
Being asymptomatic, the hospital has arranged a facility opposite to its premises and has kept Raja for the treatment. Raja has been serving as the Chairman of Aavin in the Theni district, which is a stronghold for the deputy chief minister and Panneerselvam's son Ravindranath Kumar has been Lok Sabha MP for Theni parliamentary constituency.
The reports stated that Raja had tested positive for the virus on Monday morning. He has become one of the top leaders in the state to have been contracted to the virus. Earlier, five sitting MLAs have tested positive for the virus.
Of these five, four were DMK MLAs - J Anbalagan -Chepauk Constituency in Chennai, Vasantham Karthikeyan - Rishivandhiyam in Kallakurichi, KT Arasu of Cheyyur constituency, Chengalpattu, and KS Masthan of Gingee, Villupuram district and the rest one MLA belong to ADMK - Palani who represents Sriperumbudur, Kancheepuram district. Of these five, DMK's Anbalagan succumbed to the virus earlier this month while the rest four are getting treated at the hospitals.
