Exactly a day ahead of the commencement of the complete lockdown in the state, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has on Sunday issued crucial orders to the district collectors to enforce the lockdown tightly and strengthen the containment measures at their respective districts during the period of the complete lockdown. On Saturday, the Tamil Nadu government has imposed a complete lockdown with no relaxations from Monday for a week till May 31.

The government has suspended the public and private transportations and shut down all sorts of shops including grocery and vegetable shops from Monday. On Sunday, Chief Minister MK Stalin had directed the district collectors to strict up the measures in their districts like conducting a door-to-door survey to detect people with COVID-19 symptoms during the week-long lockdown in the state.

He had addressed the district collectors, police superintendents, and health authorities through video conferencing on Sunday during which he instructed the district administrations to ensure to take steps towards supplying fruits, vegetables, milk, and drinking water to the people during the lockdown.

He also directed the collectors to conduct medical camps for early detection of infected people, increasing testing, and continuation of the vaccination drive across the state. He highlighted that monitoring the availability of oxygen and life-saving drugs and bringing down disease transmission in their respective districts should be the goal of the collectors.

The Chief Minister had advised the collectors to ensure that the movements of essential services won't face any hindrance during the lockdown and asked to take efforts to keep the people under the ambit of the lockdown and restrictions. He also instructed the collectors to make sure that there would be no difficulty in taking the people to the hospitals.
